Wild Blue Skies Mission List

Wild Blue Skies does not publish a giant numbered “Mission 01–20” list on the Steam storefront. Players still need names, because trophies, radio, and review write-ups all talk in stage titles. This page is the wiki’s index of confirmed locations: names that appear in Steam and Xbox achievement text, official trailers, or developer interviews. We do not invent extra islands to pad a table.

Use it beside the Campaign Walkthrough (routing), Environments (how each biome shoots), and Achievements (why a name matters for 100%). The launch trailer in the middle of this article shows temple defense, mine dodging, and squad radio in motion.

Confirmed stage roster

StageWhy the name is confirmedWhat players hunt here
Jill’s TrainingAchievement Locked and Loaded!Laser vs charge, pause diagram, first barrel rolls
ArchipelagoSave Thorne and fly all waterfallsEscort, cascade rails, early WILD crates
CanyonsDestroy all boulders (Geologist)Charge-shot rock breaks, ridge turrets
MinesDefeat the Prowlers before the timer (Dogfighter)Rival-squad timer, tight tunnels
TempleDestroy all Walkers before they arrive (Archaeologist)Ground-target priority, structure defense
GrottoDestroy all crystals (Mineralogist)Cave collisions, brake/tilt, letter hides
CloudtopShoot the Cloudworm every appearance (Daredevil)Recurring set-piece target
HurricaneHigh score trophy Meteorologist; demo stageRain readability, ribbon routing
Grimclaw’s MechMission ClearedLate-game boss, bomb conservation
Grimclaw / Ash CloudMission Complete plus Into the Wild Blue YonderFinale, escape rail, squad-survival medal

Trailers and reviews also speak in broader biomes — oceans, desert ridges, perilous caves — that wrap these named stages. If a community map later adds an official label we missed, we will fold it in after it appears in-game or in patch notes, not before.

Training, Jill, and the first hour

Jill’s Training Mode is the onboarding sortie. It is short, skippable in spirit, and a mistake to skip in practice. The achievement name Locked and Loaded! is the game telling you the loadout is the lesson: two fire buttons, boost and brake, tilt, bombs, barrel roll. Pair this row with Controller Layout and Charge Shots. Reviews mention a cartoon-style squad intro before the invasion of home shores; that cinematic is tone, not a combat stage, but it introduces Bowie, Thorne, Chuck, and Roe before you ever see a Prowler.

Mid-map: Archipelago through Hurricane

Think of the middle of the campaign as a world map of set-piece homework:

Archipelago is water and escort. The waterfall trophy is a completionist flag: you can beat the stage and still miss a cascade. Fly the edges. Keep Thorne off the mayday channel if you also want later teamwork trophies.

Canyons is geology as score. Boulders are not scenery. Charge shots and bombs clear clusters; leaving one rock unkilled fails Geologist even if your ribbon looks fine.

Mines is a timed rival encounter with the Prowlers. Treat it like a Beat Bosses arena squeezed into a tunnel. Timer expired means the achievement is gone for that run even if you still finish the story objective.

Temple is a race against Walkers. Trailer lines like “protect the temple” match the trophy text. Prioritize the walkers over pretty air trash; Archaeologist does not care about your chain if the structure is reached.

Grotto is cave crystals plus collision risk. IGN noted no-damage and upgrade-loss pain; Grotto is where that pain lives. Brake 180s from Free Flight Tips matter less here than gentle tilt.

Cloudtop is a repeating worm. Miss one appearance and Daredevil fails. Count the pop-ins out loud if you have to.

Hurricane is the Steam Next Fest / demo weather stage Digital Foundry praised for rain. Meteorologist wants a high score, so fly it like a ribbon mission: chains, letters, squad alive, boss fast. See Score System.

Finale names and optional trophies that are not stages

Grimclaw’s Mech, Grimclaw, and the Ash Cloud escape are the named climax. They are stages (or stage phases) with their own trophies. Several other achievements sound like missions but are behaviors:

  • Time For a Little Payback — watch Chuck defeat Wartle. Do not steal the last hit.
  • Left on Read — ignore Grimclaw’s call.
  • Friendly Fire — shoot down your own wingmen (do this on a throwaway replay).
  • Pacifist — boss without other kills.
  • Blue Bomber — ten enemies with one bomb.

Those sit on the Achievements page so this list stays a map, not a 22-row dump.

How stages connect to branches and the hard path

Zach Aikman said not every level has branching paths, but several hide secret criteria that unlock a hard path, and riding that path changes the ending. When you replay a named stage from this list, ask three questions:

  1. Did the debrief mention a missed optional?
  2. Did a crate, cave mouth, or radio line point to a secret path?
  3. Did I need letters, a ribbon, or a unique trophy (Prowlers, Walkers, worm) on this visit?

Do not mash all three goals into one desperate run. The $14.99 campaign is short enough to replay a stage cleanly. Switch pilots waiting for fall 2026 can still use this list: Balor Games said the Nintendo version is feature-complete.

Name the sky, then fly it on purpose. Wild Blue Skies’ map is small; the named homework is not.
